Manzoni, Alessandro. Opere.
Florence, V. Bertelli and sons., 1828-18292 vol. in octavo (195x125 mm.), [LI] p., 932 pages; [1] l., 904 p., 6 plates. XIX century half calf. A good copy from the library of Emanuel Stickelberger (ex libris).Rare first complete edition of Manzoni's works, published one year after the first edition of the Promessi Sposi. In addition to Manzoni's tragedies, poems, literary proses, and to the romance (here in its first linguistic version), this collection includes texts of literary criticism and theory by Manzoni himself, contemporary authoritative judgments on Manzoni's works, and part of the literary correspondence between Manzoni and important men of letters of his time, like Goethe and Fauriel. This two-volume edition is a rare variant of the commoner six-volume one, and is probably to be intended as an editorial test preceding the definitive version
